Who runs this site
NeuroLogic (eeg-training.com) is a free, non-commercial teaching site for EEG and epilepsy, written and run by Matthew S. Davitz, MD. For any question about privacy, use the NeuroLogicMD support page.
What is saved in your browser
To remember your choices and where you are in the course, pages of this site save small items in your browser’s local storage, plus three small cookies. Local storage never leaves your device. Cookies travel back to this site with each page request; the two question-bank cookies are not read there, and the access cookie is checked only to open the protected pages.
| What | Why | Kept until |
|---|---|---|
| Display settings: dark mode and larger text | Pages open the way you set them. | You change them or clear your data |
| When the disclaimer and this site’s privacy notice were last shown | So they do not appear on every visit. The disclaimer comes back after 30 days. | You clear your data |
| Course progress: EEG Fundamentals, EEG Videos, Board Review answers, paused question sets and flashcard schedule, the rotation checklist, game high scores | You pick up where you left off. | You reset it or clear your data |
Question Bank answers and flags, and your running totals (cookies correctCount and totalCount) | Same, on the Question Bank. | Cookies expire after one year |
| Your Brainiac conversation (the last 20 messages) and window size | The chat follows you from page to page. | You reset the chat or clear your data |
| Study code for the optional course tests | Pairs your before and after test without your name. | You clear your data |
Access session (cookie neurologic_access), set only after you enter an educator’s code | Opens the Epilepsy Rotation guide and the Question Bank. It holds an expiry time and a signature, nothing about you, and scripts cannot read it. | 30 days |
Each of these only makes a feature you use work, and none is used to recognize or follow you, so the site does not ask for consent before saving them. You are told about them once, and you can remove them at any time with the button above or your browser’s “clear site data” setting for eeg-training.com.
What reaches the server
The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). As with any website, your device’s IP address, browser type and the pages you request reach Cloudflare so the pages can be delivered and the site protected from attacks. Cloudflare handles that under its privacy policy. This site adds no analytics, keeps no visitor log of its own and does not try to identify you. Fonts, icons, pictures and videos come from this site, apart from the optional celebration pictures described below.
If you enter a wrong access code, the attempt is counted against your IP address for up to 15 minutes to slow guessing. The count is held in server memory only and is never written down.
Brainiac, the site assistant
A question you type into Brainiac is sent to this site’s server, which searches the site’s own pages and asks a language model that Cloudflare runs on its own network (Workers AI) to phrase an answer from those passages. The site does not store your questions, and Cloudflare states that it does not use them to train models. Please do not type patient names or other identifiable health information.
If you use the microphone button, your browser’s own speech service turns speech into text before anything reaches this site. In Chrome that service is Google’s; in Safari it is Apple’s.
Other services you may choose to use
- Course tests. The optional before and after tests in EEG Fundamentals are Google Forms. The site fills in only your random study code; your answers go to the course author through Google Forms, under Google’s privacy policy.
- Question Bank celebrations. With Celebrations ticked, some reward pictures come from the public dog.ceo image service, requested without cookies and without the page address. Untick Celebrations to stop this.
- News ticker. The headlines are fetched by the server from Crossref. Your browser contacts the journal only when you open an article.
- Links to other sites. Journals, guidelines and other resources linked from these pages have their own privacy policies.
What the site does not do
No advertising, analytics, social-media trackers or fingerprinting. No accounts, sign-ups or mailing lists. No selling or sharing of personal information. If the site ever adds anything optional of this kind, you will be asked before it runs.
Your choices
Use Clear my saved data or your browser settings to remove everything this site has saved on your device. Because the site keeps no personal information on its servers, there is nothing there to export or delete; questions and requests go to the support page. If you live in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
The site is meant for clinicians and trainees and is not directed at children.
